After much deliberation, the POAO Executive developed the following Branch Structure for the Province, reducing the number of branches from eleven to six (January 1, 2001) as follows:
Northwest Branch (Thunder Bay as the Administrative Centre)
Major population centres are:
Thunder Bay, Fort Francis, Kenora, Dryden, Red Lake, Geraldton, Longlac, Nipigon, Terrace Bay and Marathon. The Branch includes the Districts of: Rainy River, Kenora and Thunder Bay
Northeast Branch (Sudbury as the Administrative Centre)
Major population centres are:
Manitoulin Island, Sault Ste. Marie, Elliott Lake, Espanola, Chapleau, Wawa, Hornpayne, Hearst, Kapuskasing, Moosonee, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Timmins, Kirkland Lake, New Liskeard, Haileybury, Sturgeon Falls, North Bay, Sudbury, Parry Sound, Huntsville, Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, Orillia, Midland, Penetanguishene and Haliburton.
The Branch includes the Districts of: Algoma, Manitoulin, Sudbury, Timiskiming, Nipissing and Parry Sound, Haliburton, Muskoka and the Northern part of Simcoe County.
Eastern Branch (Ottawa as the Administrative Centre)
Major population centres are:
Ottawa, Cornwall, Brockville, Kingston, Napanee, Smith Falls, Perth, Carleton Place, Arnprior, Renfrew, Barry's Bay, Petawawa, Pembroke, Belleville, Trenton, Bancroft, Peterborough, Port Hope, Cobourg, Fenlon Falls and Lindsay
The Branch includes the counties and regional municipalities of: Ottawa-Carleton RM, Prescott and Russell, Vaudreuil-Soulanges, Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry, Leeds and Grenville, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington, Lanark, Frontenac Lanark, Renfrew Hastings, Prince Edward County, Peterborough, Northumberland and Victoria
Central Branch (Toronto as the Administrative Centre)
Major population centres are:
Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Alliston, Barrie, Bradford, Newmarket, Keswick, Aurora, Richmond Hill, Thornhill, Markham, Pickering, Clarington Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax, Port Perry, Uxbridge and Beaverton.
The Branch includes: (Part of) Simcoe County, Toronto, and the Regions of York, Durham and Peel.
Midwest Branch (Hamilton as the Administrative Centre)
Major population centres are:
Hamilton, St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, Fort Erie, Brantford, Cambridge, Kitchener, Waterloo, Guelph, Georgetown, Milton, Oakville, Burlington, Orangeville and Owen Sound.
The Branch includes: The counties of Grey, Bruce, Wellington, Brant and the Regional Municipalities of Hamilton Wentworth, Niagara, Halton, Haldimand-Norfolk, and Waterloo.
Southwest Branch (London as the Administrative Centre)
Major population centres
London, Woodstock, Tillsonburg, St Thomas, Chatham, Windsor, Wallaceburg, Sarnia, Strathroy, Stratford, Listowel, Goderich, Hanover, Kincardine and Port Elgin,
The Branch includes the counties of Oxford, Essex, Kent, Lambton, Middlesex, Perth, Huron and Bruce
