The Probation Officers Association of Ontario is pleased to announce May 2 to May 8, 2010 as Probation Officer’s Week in Ontario. This year POAO is supporting the theme of “Probation Officers of Ontario: Keeping up with Emerging Trends”.
This theme highlights the ever changing role of the Probation/ Probation and Parole Officer and the ability of all Officers working in the field to adapt to the daily demands and stay current on emerging trends in the work that we do. Not only do Probation/Probation and Parole Officers complete their daily duties but often are leaders in the criminal justice system in relation to new trends impacting our work and our communities. Through training and education we share our knowledge with our colleagues and criminal justice partners. This great work is completed all year round yet it is important during this week that we take a moment to reflect on the good work that is done and highlight your efforts.
During PO week all six Branches of POAO will be organizing and participating in various charitable and community based events. The Branches will utilize PO-week to recognize and acknowledge the important work that is done daily by Probation Officers as well as this week will present more opportunities to engage with your communities and support your colleagues. We hope that you are able to participate in some events, learn more about our justice partners and to re-connect with colleagues. Please join us in celebrating this week!
